These are some photos I took in and around the Tenderloin neighborhood where I live. Some field recordings of people in the neighborhood were used in the “SF Bioacoustic Soundscape” I also do the mixing and electronics overdubs in my home studio apartment in the Tenderloin District, San Francisco.
Derek Gedalecia, a.k.a. Headboggle, has been performing electronic keyboard-based soundscapes for several years in the Bay Area in over a hundred local performances at venues ranging from GTK to YBCA. Incorporating lowbrow with highbrow art, music, and comedy, Head Boggle’s intent is to fuse together a new ecstatic improvisational performance style with a carefully crafted musical underbed. In his formative years, Gedalecia studied classical and ragtime piano from noted ragtime composer/revivalist Dr. Brian Dykstra.
Credits: For “SF Bioacoustic Soundscape”, I used public domain sounds from the BioPresence project team as well as my own recordings of San Francisco. Some of the particular musical accompaniment was created on upright piano and electronic keyboard instruments such as the EMS Synthi and the Moog Little Phatty.
