The human-animal’s awareness of it’s own existence is widely accepted as a phenomena, unique to the human. The purpose of my work is to capture the squirrels response, when confronted with the Heideggerian notion of ‘Dasein, as being-towards-the end’. This term refers to a beings awareness of life as finite. Heidegger asserts, Only by accepting ‘Dasein, as being-towards-the-end’ or existence as finite, can the individual begin to grapple with the seriousness of each passing moment.
